How to Do Burpee
Form Cues
- 1
Squat down, jump feet back to plank, perform push up, jump feet forward, jump up with arms overhead
- 2
Keep the plank position rigid for the moment you're in it, avoiding a sagging hip
- 3
Land softly with bent knees on both the feet-forward jump and the final jump
- 4
Pace yourself with breathing rather than rushing every rep as fast as possible
Common Mistakes
- ●
Skipping the push up — the push up is what makes it a full body exercise, do not omit it
- ●
Landing stiff-legged on the jumps — bend the knees to absorb impact and protect the joints
- ●
Letting the lower back round or the hips sag during the plank-to-squat transition
Equipment Variations
- ▸
Step back burpee as lower-impact regression
- ▸
Box jump burpee as advanced progression
