How to Do Landmine Press
Form Cues
- 1
Kneel or stand holding the end of the barbell at shoulder height, press straight up and forward in an arc until arm is fully extended
- 2
Keep core braced and avoid leaning back throughout the movement
- 3
If kneeling, use a tall-kneeling position on the opposite-side knee for a stable, anti-rotation base
- 4
Control the descent back to the shoulder rather than letting the bar drop
Common Mistakes
- ●
Using body momentum to press the bar — keep the torso upright and let the shoulder do the work
- ●
Letting the torso rotate toward the pressing arm — brace the core to resist that rotation
- ●
Rushing the arc path — the bar should travel in a smooth, controlled line, not a jerky push
Equipment Variations
- ▸
Dumbbell overhead press as direct substitute
- ▸
Cable shoulder press for similar arc pattern
